New risk designation: A career boost for risk management practitioners
Posted by Louise Campbell AGIA ACIS, Head of Risk, Group Risk, Origin Energy Limited on 01/12/2016
I’m pleased to be supporting Governance Institute of Australia’s new ‘Risk and Governance Professional’ designation. The new designation offers national recognition for risk management practitioners who have completed the Graduate Diploma of Applied Risk Management and Corporate Governance or the Graduate Certificate of Applied Risk Management.
By way of background, I lead the risk team responsible for keeping Origin on track to deliver its strategic objectives, with our primary focus being on service and value in order to protect, grow and sustain Origin. We aim to provide insight to risk reporting, oversight to risk management frameworks and foresight in relation to risk intelligence and second line assurance.
I became a member of Governance Institute of Australia after completing the Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance in 2014. The course equipped me with practical tools and guidance, particularly in relation to enterprise risk management, governance and industry practice.
I use a range of Governance Institute’s channels including the monthly journal, Governance Directions, professional development events and networking opportunities with industry peers to keep across new developments in enterprise risk management.
Anyone pursuing a career in enterprise risk management should consider either the Graduate Diploma of Applied Risk Management and Corporate Governance or the Graduate Certificate of Applied Risk Management. I would highly recommend Governance Institute’s postgraduate courses for anyone who is serious about a career in this field.
