Module 1:

  • Explores the foundational principles of governance, the importance of oversight, key regulatory frameworks, and how governance practices differ across for-profit, not-for-profit, and public sector settings.

Module 2:

  • Focuses on the roles and functions of boards, the key attributes needed for effective board dynamics, the legal context of board operations, and the significance of separation of powers and board meetings.

Module 3:

  • Examines board structure and formation, the role of advisory boards and committees, and the importance of performance and remuneration practices in maintaining effective governance.

Module 4:

  • Explores leadership roles in governance, including the responsibilities of chairs and CEOs, the balance between managing and governing, frameworks for oversight, performance evaluation, and the impact of national and international standards.

Module 5:

  • Addresses ethical considerations in governance, including ESG frameworks, conflict management, stakeholder roles, and whistleblowing, emphasising the intersection of ethics and oversight.

Module 6:

  • Covers directors' legal duties and the consequences of breaches, including civil and criminal penalties. It also explores emerging governance issues such as digital governance, climate responsibilities, risk management, and human rights, along with the protections available to directors in these evolving contexts.

  • For this assessment, you will analyse the Airbus’ "LEAD!" initiative to explore the governance implications and the effectiveness of oversight mechanisms within the organisation. The task will require you to critically evaluate the governance implications of the practices outlined in the case study, diagnose potential challenges, and propose actionable strategies that align with best practices in governance.

Part B

  • For this assessment, you will draw on your professional experience to select specific activities that showcase your ability to meet the learning outcomes of this micro-credential. You will compile a curated portfolio of evidence and create a video explaining the evidence in more detail.

Part C

  • This assessment will measure your ability to critically reflect on your learning experience and consider how to apply the insights gained to future learning and professional practice.
