New TEQSA accreditation and James Cook Masters partnership for Governance Institute

Governance Institute successfully gained accreditation from the national regulator for higher education — Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) — for a new Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance and Risk Management. The accreditation has been granted for the maximum period of seven years.

Mark Wilbourn, General Manager, Education at Governance Institute said “Having our postgraduate courses accredited by TEQSA assures our students of their quality. For 110 years, we have provided cutting edge governance and risk management education to Australian business leaders from all walks of life. And we intend to continue that.”

Governance Institute’s Graduate Diploma has also been accredited by the Chartered Governance Institute as a qualifying program for the international designations — Chartered Secretary and Chartered Governance Professional. So, graduates will be recognised globally for their governance skills and knowledge,” Mark continued.

In addition to accreditation success, Governance Institute’s Graduate Certificate is now recognised for credit into the Master of Governance and Leadership at James Cook University (JCU).

Students who complete the Graduate Certificate can apply to have the four subjects recognised as advanced standing in JCU’s Master of Governance and Leadership (12 credit points of the 36-credit point degree).

“The Graduate Certificate of Applied Corporate Governance and Risk Management fulfils the requirements for a Governance major in the Master of Governance and Leadership. This allows our students to stand out from the competition with two accredited qualifications — a Masters and Graduate Certificate” said Mr Wilbourn.
