Leading the Way: Building Resilience in Public Sector Governance

With public trust in political parties in Australia at less than 30%, the role of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) in its work to investigate, monitor, detecting and deterring corrupt conduct is vital.

In a keynote session titled, “Guardrail Institutions and the Responsibility of Public Trust.” Commissioner Paul Brereton will address audiences at the Governance Institute of Australia’s Public Sector Governance Forum on how the NACC works to increase public trust and the importance of preventing corruption through engagement and education.

Taking place on Friday, November 15 in Adelaide and virtually, the 2024 Public Sector Governance Forum brings together leaders from federal and state agencies to address the most pressing challenges facing the public sector today.

Under the theme “Navigating Change: Building Resilience in a Dynamic World and Doing More with Less,” the forum will explore the critical role of the public sector in ensuring efficient administration and service delivery during times of disruption and transformation. Attendees will have the opportunity to exchange insights, reflect on strategies to chart a resilient course forward, and learn to thrive amidst change.

Key themes for discussion include economic and global issues, the attributes and challenges of a resilient public sector, and the responsibility of guardrail institutions in sustaining public trust. The forum will also cover promoting and safeguarding Australians’ information access and privacy rights, delivering government priorities, and preventing corruption through culture, education, and engagement.
