Governance Institute’s Sustainability Forum explores ESG, AI and climate goals
As the responsibilities of boards and executives implementing sustainable practices in their organisations become increasingly complex, Governance Institute of Australia is proud to be launching our very first, and highly anticipated Sustainability Forum later this month.
This event promises to be a cornerstone for discussions on sustainability, featuring a stellar lineup of speakers, including John Lydon, Co-chair of the Australian Climate Leaders Coalition, and Klaus Moosmayer, Chief Ethics, Risk and Compliance Officer at Novartis, who will join live from Switzerland.
Catherine Maxwell, General Manager of Policy and Advocacy at the Governance Institute of Australia, said critical themes such as framing a broad overview of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles and understanding the evolving regulatory landscape both domestically and internationally will be front and centre of the discussions.
“Boards and executives play a crucial role in embedding sustainable practices within their organisations. Their leadership and commitment are essential for driving meaningful change and ensuring long-term success.”
Attendees will gain insights into climate-related financial disclosures, the responsibilities of boards, and how SMEs and NFPs can navigate mandatory reporting and disclosure requirements. Other key topics include the state of climate litigation, the role of regulators, leveraging AI to achieve sustainability goals, and the business case for measuring and reporting on nature impact.
Additionally, the forum will address the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and provide an essential update on modern slavery and navigating the ‘S’ in ESG.
Governance Institute CEO Megan Motto was also involved in the UN Global Compact Network Uniting Business Live Australia: Sustainability in Action in October, discussing crucial topics like sustainability, principles-based regulation, global frameworks, and the vital role of leadership in aligning capitalism with purpose. This impactful discussion highlight’s our commitment to driving sustainability and ethical practices in business.
