2025 AI Deployment and Governance Survey Report
Take the first step towards harnessing AI's power.
Australians have taken to AI with enthusiasm. Despite widespread adoption, there’s a critical gap between capturing AI’s potential benefits and the realities of effective implementation. The 2025 AI Deployment and Governance Survey Report, conducted by Governance Institute of Australia, provides crucial insights into AI adoption, governance, and training across various sectors.
Last year we launched a White Paper on AI Governance, establishing foundational principles for responsible AI, identifying clear, actionable steps for business leaders.
This year we present the practical realities of AI’s implementation in Australia. The 2025 paper is built on insights from a survey of 344 respondents in a diverse range of roles and organisation sizes, alongside detailed case studies of five carefully selected AI leaders. The five AI leaders were CommBank, Telstra, Sydney University, MYOB – the learnings from these organisations were built into case studies which are listed in the Survey Report and in the podcast episodes.
Key findings:
- 88% of respondents have struggled to integrate generative AI into legacy systems.
- Only 10% of respondents have advanced AI qualifications; 46% have no training.
- 72% cited data privacy as a major regulatory challenge.
- 93% can’t effectively measure AI ROI.
