Treasurer’s announcement to allow electronic execution of documents and communications is welcomed by Governance Institute, but virtual AGMs placed in holding pattern

Governance Institute of Australia recently welcomed the Treasurer’s announcement that temporary regulations that allowed organisations to execute and send documents electronically during the pandemic will be made permanent. However, the regulations allowing virtual AGMs, due to expire in March 2020, have only been extended to September.

“With the mini-AGM season about to start, this extension is welcome news, but it maintains the pre-COVID regime for the main 2021 AGM season” Governance Institute CEO Megan Motto said.
