Governance Institute & CEW Emerging Director Scholarship

At CEW, we advocate for diverse women leaders at every decision-making table. With the generous support of the Governance Institute of Australia, we can take practical action to achieve this: offering a scholarship to an exceptional executive woman leader to the Effective Director Course, accelerating her transition into board directorship.

CEW Sophie Bond

We are thrilled to award the 2024 Governance Institute & CEW Emerging Director Scholarship to Sophie Bond. Sophie is a registered architect and Principal at Hassell, a global multidisciplinary design practice with nine studios worldwide. She specialises in the Commercial, Workplace, Cultural, and Education sectors, and strives to create places people love.

Megan Motto FGIA FCG, CEO of the Governance Institute, stated, “We are incredibly proud to partner with CEW to support the development of exceptional women leaders. This collaboration underscores our commitment to fostering robust governance and leadership practices across all sectors. Together, we are empowering women to achieve their full potential and drive meaningful change in their organisations and communities.”

Known as a big-picture thinker with an eye for detail, Sophie has contributed to iconic projects like the Sydney Theatre Company’s historic wharf revival and the Brookfield Place Renewal in Perth. Her collaborative approach centres on people, believing that inclusive design processes deliver the best outcomes.

When asked what she hopes to achieve through this scholarship, Sophie says: “I want to build on my work within my profession and the National Association of Women in Construction to amplify my leadership impact. I hope to use the skills gained through this scholarship to create opportunities for others, inspire progress, and deliver projects that make a real difference.”

Congratulations Sophie!
