Hello everyone, I’m excited to be leading Governance Institute of Australia into what will be a huge 2019. Thank you to everyone who has already reached out with their support, and provided such warm welcomes.
What a time to be involved in the conversation about governance in Australia!
Like many of you, I closely observed the fallout from the banking royal commission, and as the lens moves to the royal commission into aged care, it’s never been more apparent that what we do as an industry is vitally important.
Governance Institute of Australia has already built a strong reputation as the key independent advocate for governance excellence in Australia, and I want to keep that momentum going.
I am proud to be representing our members during such a key time, and believe that a positive and engaged membership base is key to achieving our strategic goals this year. So please reach out with your input and feedback, especially where you see industry challenges and opportunities. You can email me at megan.motto@governanceinstitute.com.au.

We have recorded stronger membership renewals so far this year. Thank you to all of you who have demonstrated your confidence in the value that Governance Institute provides. Being part of Governance Institute offers you continued access to this journal as well as an ideal way to advance your career, expand your network and build on your skills. One way to build your network is by participating in Governance Institute’s workshops, training and events.
June will lead into one of our largest events, the two-day Governance and Risk Management Forum 2019. This is your opportunity to strengthen your networks, upgrade your skills and hear exclusive insights from some of Australia’s business leaders.
We will have more news to share as the date draws nearer, but I’m already excited for this year’s event. I can’t wait to meet you all there.
I am also fortunate to inherit a fantastic national team, who are all working hard to support you, our members, and provide strong advocacy for our industry as a whole. Over the coming months, I will be visiting our state offices, meeting our local teams and industry partners, and looking to build strong relationships with you all.
Thank you to everyone who has made this transition so smooth, and I look forward to working on your behalf to advocate for better governance in Australia.
