Governance Institute welcomes consultation on refreshed ASX Corporate Governance Principles

The Governance Institute of Australia welcomes the release of the consultation draft of the 5th edition of the ASX Corporate Governance Principles and Recommendations and encourages governance professionals to actively engage in the consultation process.
The Principles and Recommendations are Australia’s leading statement of good corporate governance practice, influencing governance standards across listed and unlisted organisations.
The proposed 5th edition seeks to respond to evolving governance expectations while maintaining the flexibility of the longstanding “if not, why not” disclosure framework that underpins Australia’s principles-based approach to governance. The consultation provides an important opportunity to ensure any updates remain practical, proportionate and effective for organisations of all sizes.
