As the world continues to adjust to hybrid working environments, leaders and employees are still trying to work out the right balance between working from home and working from the office. Many individuals love the ability to save time from the commute and work in quieter environments; the trade-off is deeper connections and a stronger sense of belonging, both playing a significant role in social and business wellbeing.

In 2022, EY research indicated that employees are three times more likely to stay with an organisation if they feel a sense of belonging. A survey of 800 full-time workers revealed that 69% said they’d be happier having deeper connections with work colleagues. Ironically enough, MetaVerse, whose platforms Facebook and Instagram connect people virtually, is trying to promote the benefits of in-person work and now require employees to return to the office three days/ week; Amazon has done the same, as are other organisations worldwide.
