Levels of trust have dropped —what can be done about it?

Governance Institute Ethics Index

In August, Governance Institute released its third annual Ethics Index. This revealing study measures Australians’ expectations for ethical behaviour compared with their perceptions of actual behaviour across a variety of organisations, occupations and situations. Over the last twelve months, we have seen extensive media coverage of controversial and ethically charged events, and debate has continued at an individual and organisational level. So how does society compare in 2018? Unsurprisingly, the overall ranking is down on last year, meaning society is operating at the ‘somewhat ethical’ level.
