President's commentary — Corporate governance continues to be under the microscope

The fifth round of hearings by the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation, and Financial Services Industry is due to commence this month, with Commissioner Hayne’s focus turning towards the superannuation industry.  

The hundreds of hours of hearings and reams of evidence collected suggest that we are likely to hear even more stories around poor behaviours and governance and inadequate oversight.  

Last month I discussed the importance of culture to good corporate citizenship and holding a social licence to operate.
