Interview — Toby Walsh: Being A-OK with AI

Hollywood paints an interesting, but very distant and rather false picture of what artificial intelligence (AI) is all about, according to Toby Walsh, the Scientia Professor of AI at the University of New South Wales. 

As we increasingly hand over decisions to machines, he says the worry is not that they are too smart or are going to start thinking for themselves. ‘It’s that we are handing over decisions to machines that are too stupid. We don’t realise they are not as capable as us.’
