Australia’s co-operatives and mutual enterprises (CMEs) are in the spotlight with proposed legislative reforms released for consultation and a set of governance principles published for the sector for the first time.

Following three years’ work with the Business Council for Co-operatives and Mutuals (BCCM), the government published the exposure draft of the Treasury Laws Amendment (Mutual Entities) Bill 2018 earlier this month, along with explanatory materials.
