Governance Institute CEO to stand down
After three years of significant achievement, Steven Burrell FGIA will be standing down as Chief Executive of the Governance Institute of Australia in September to take up a new CEO role.
The President of Governance Institute, Warren Baillie, said Mr Burrell will leave a strong and enduring legacy on which the next Chief Executive can build for the future.
“The Board sincerely thanks Steven for the great contribution he has made our success in his three years as Chief Executive, which has been a period of considerable achievement for Governance Institute”, he said.
With his strong team, Steven has led a number of significant changes and implemented initiatives which have transformed Governance Institute and positioned it for on-going success in the future.”
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Governance Institute and being part of the growth of the organisation,” Mr Burrell said.
“This has been largely due to the great contributions of our members, volunteers, corporate partners and, of course, our dedicated staff.”
“I am very proud of what we have achieved together and feel privileged to have had this opportunity to lead such an important organisation at a crucial point in its history
“I feel that it is now time for new leadership to take Governance Institute to the next stage of its growth.”
The Governance Institute Board has appointed Omera Partners to assist with the process to recruit a new Chief Executive.
