Public Sector governance shake-up


Australia's public sector has fast-tracked governance reform following the Uhrig review of corporate governance of statutory authorities and office holders with nine out of 10 organisations changing their corporate governance procedures, a poll by Chartered Secretaries Australia (CSA) has found.

Your correspondent, John Abernethy (Alter act to cut Tweed off at the knees, August 2) highlights a problem which has been of concern to Chartered Secretaries Australia (CSA) and its members for many years. Despite previous attempts to amend the legislation to protect shareholders, particularly the elderly and unsophisticated, Mr Tweed and others continue to approach shareholders with unsolicited offers.
