Volunteer governance opportunities

Governance Institute is pleased to offer a complimentary web listing service for Not-for-Profit organisations requiring assistance in their governance practices. Many NFP organisations would benefit from help from qualified Governance Institute members and we encourage members to offer their support.

Link Community Transport, based in Melbourne, is seeking Non-Executive Director/s with skills in Innovation, Finance, Strategy, Govt Relations (volunteer basis). You will be an open-minded team contributor with experience and insight across a selection of relevant skills from within innovation, financial management, operations, service management, entrepreneurship, business planning, partnerships, proposal development, philanthropy, communications, stakeholder management, tenders, and government relations. Familiarity with audit and government acquittal processes is also desirable. Gidget Foundation Australia, based in Sydney, NSW, is seeking an experienced, volunteer Company Secretary to assist with all aspects of board governance and compliance. Your commitment will include preparation, attendance and relevant actions arising for six board meetings per annum held in the evening in North Sydney. The PKKP Aboriginal Corporation, based in the Pilbara region, WA, administer the traditional lands and waters on behalf of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people and the Pinikura people. PKKP AC and the Trustee require a review and consolidation of their strategic plans. The process will include liaising with the PKKP member community, the PKKP AC board and trustee committee. The planning sessions are scheduled to commence late February, with the process to be completed by 30 June 2019. Chief Minister’s Charitable Fund, based in Australian Capital Territory, is seeking volunteer Board Directors to guide and strengthen the vision, commitment and intent of the fund. The fund’s objectives are to meet the social, economic, cultural, educational, environmental and other charitable needs of the community. The initial term is for three years, board members can serve up to three consecutive terms. It is anticipated that the board will meet four times a year. Amnesty International Australia is seeking Governance Committee members. The committee considers and provides advice on governance matters generally affecting Amnesty International Australia and is responsible for maintaining the policy framework, reviewing and writing policies, as well as any governance matters referred to it by the board. ME/CFS and Lyme Association of WA, Inc., based in Nedlands, WA, is seeking board members in various roles to assist with governance and fundraising. Experience in fundraising and the disability sector is desirable. Your commitment will include approx. 10 hours per month (largely remote-based), board meeting attendance, and assisting with fundraising. Further details can be viewed here. ME/CFS and Lyme Association of WA, Inc., based in Nedlands, WA, is seeking a CEO on a voluntary basis to assist with stakeholder engagement, networking, and increasing funding sources. Experience in advocacy is desirable though not essential. Your commitment will include 4-10 hours a fortnight and can be largely remote-based. Further details can be viewed here.
