Volunteer governance opportunities

Governance Institute is pleased to offer a complimentary web listing service for Not-for-Profit organisations requiring assistance in their governance practices. Many NFP organisations would benefit from help from qualified Governance Institute members and we encourage members to offer their support.

Kogarah Community Services Inc., based in Sydney, NSW, is seeking a volunteer Board member to assist with governance responsibilities of a community based NFP charity. Your commitment will include monthly board meetings, for approximately 2 hrs per month plus other ad hoc work as required. Cystic Fibrosis WA., based in WA, is an award winning not for profit Association incorporated in Western Australia.  It provides services to people living with CF and funds research into this rare genetic disease. The Board of CFWA is currently looking to co-opt up to three honorary directors to its Board of Governance in 2019. Potential candidates will have a keen desire to contribute to the Association by offering their expertise and by leveraging their extensive professional networks.

The Board would be particularly keen to receive expressions of interest from professionals in the fields of Marketing & Fundraising, Business and Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and ICT who are looking at broadening their experience on a not for profit Board. Co-opted appointments are for up to one year and subject to renewal in April each year. Board meetings are held monthly. Some additional meetings and attendance at special events is required throughout the year.

Potential Board members will receive comprehensive training in CF and a Board member orientation pack. Board members are exposed to a range of philanthropists and leaders in the community and will gain invaluable experience at a Board level.  They have the opportunity to be seen as contributing to one of the State’s leading not for profit associations and helping to achieve our vision of Lives Unaffected by CF.
