Volunteer governance opportunities

Governance Institute is pleased to offer a complimentary web listing service for Not-for-Profit organisations requiring assistance in their governance practices. Many NFP organisations would benefit from help from qualified Governance Institute members and we encourage members to offer their support.

Music For Canberra (MFC), is a community music provider, offering music lessons and ensembles to a broad range of people including children from 18 months, those living with disability, through to seniors and the Canberra Youth Orchestra. They are seeking board members from all backgrounds who would like to contribute to the future of MFC. ISCA based in Sydney, NSW, is seeking a Company Secretary to assist with the corporate governance of the board. Neighbourhood Watch Australasia is seeking up to three volunteer Board Directors to assist specifically in the areas of fundraising, grants, and lobbying. Your commitment will include attendance and active participation at board meetings, annual planning and annual meetings, attendance at special events such as fundraisers and ground breaking ceremonies and meeting with potential donors to make a case for funding the organisation. Common Ground Queensland is seeking two independent Directors to join its governance-focussed board. Expertise is sought either the areas of marketing and communications or fundraising. You will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing, communication and advocacy strategies that motivate audiences to engage with the purpose led organisation and implementing fundraising strategies that motivate corporate and individual donors to financially contribute or provide other material supports. Lifeline WA, is seeking individuals with skills in finance and investment management to fill a vacancy on the board and its Finance, Risk and Investment Committee . The role will provide the board of Lifeline WA with financial advice and recommendations, particularly relating to its investment strategy, prudent management of its growing investment portfolio and adequate oversight of its investment manager. Encouraging Women in Horticulture, based in Melbourne, VIC, is seeking a volunteer Treasurer to assist with maintaining financial records, membership subscriptions and meet financial requirements under the Victorian Incorporated Associations legislation. Your commitment will include: joining EWHA and its committee, maintaining financial records, attending monthly evening (first Wed of the month) committee meetings (in Fitzroy but with the option to participate remotely), and ideally, attending some events. Legal qualifications are desirable but not essential. Your commitment will include: assisting in a governance refresh, reviewing, updating as needed and preparing materials (eg. charters, policies, constitution).
