Members witnessing statutory declarations
Members of Governance Institute may have a statutory declaration made before them under the Statutory Declarations Act 1959.
Members can visit Australian Government Attorney-General's Department website for this information. Members will note that this information notes that it is members of Chartered Secretaries Australia who can witness statutory declarations
The Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department has advised Governance Institute that, due to the operations of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901, the change of our name from Chartered Secretaries Australia to Governance Institute of Australia should not affect the ability of our members to witness Commonwealth of Australia statutory declaration.
States and territories have other laws and requirements regarding statutory declarations. If you need to make a statutory declaration that concerns a state or territory matter, the Australian Attorney-General's Department website provides links to the relevant websites.

Membership provides you with the opportunity to network with other people who are doing similar things. There is always something that is not always obvious so it is good to discuss issues. Susan Minto AGIA, Huntley Investment Company Limited
