Volunteer governance opportunities

Governance Institute is pleased to offer a complimentary web listing service for Not-for-Profit organisations requiring assistance in their governance practices. Many NFP organisations would benefit from help from qualified Governance Institute members and we encourage members to offer their support.

Council on the Ageing (Vic) Inc, based in Melbourne. The Board seeks the appointment of an enthusiastic volunteer Committee Member to fill a vacancy within their Audit & Risk Management Committee as an independent member. We are seeking someone with CPA qualifications and experience in Finance and Risk Management. Previous or current Board experience would be highly regarded. Applicants must be residents within Victoria. Key duties involve monitoring and reviewing the organisation’s financial, compliance and risk management programs. Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand (GSANZ), based in Melbourne, Victoria, is seeking several volunteer Non-executive Directors (expensed) to fill upcoming Board vacancies. GSANZ provides financial inclusion and capability programs and services, while also supporting women with crisis services, housing, and family counselling. With a $200m (AUD) balance sheet in 2021, your responsibility will be to help drive strategic planning and governance. The Board meets every two months either face-to-face or via video conference, in Melbourne and New Zealand (one meeting), and attends three organisation-wide events. Earthworker Co-operative Ltd, based in Victoria, is seeking a corporate governance professional who possesses high-level risk assessment skills to join our advisory committee — formed to assist the establishment of a new housing co-operative. The project focuses on addressing the high level of community need for secure housing and aims to improve energy and resource efficiency. The Australian Dental Health Foundation (ADHF) is seeking to recruit and appoint suitably experienced and skilled people to be part of its Advisory Board. If you have the experience and motivation and time to commit to the Foundation, we would love to hear from you. All positions are voluntary. All Board members should have the skills and ability to contribute to the strategic direction of the Foundation with experience in philanthropy. We have an experienced board of business leaders whose passion for our mission motive them to volunteer their time, generally meeting for 3 hours approximately 8 times per year during business hours. We are seeking a volunteer company secretary to assist with governance, including agenda creation, attending all board meetings, taking and distributing minutes.
