Sue Ironside, Vice President, Institute of Internal Auditors

With over 30 years’ experience Sue has held senior leadership roles in local and international organisations in the mining, telecommunication, energy, manufacturing and retail sectors.

Sue is a Chartered Accountant and has a strong background in audit, governance, compliance and risk, finance, business partnering and transformation.

Prior to her recent retirement, Sue was formerly General Manager Internal Audit at Rio Tinto where she was accountable for the internal audit methodology and audit planning, quality assurance and innovation programme, data analytics, programme management, and reporting to the Board and senior management.

Sue is a non-executive director and co-Vice President of the IIA-Australia Board; and is currently a member the Executive Committee, is the Board liaison with the Western Australia Chapter Council and is Chair of the IIA-Australia Advocacy Advisory Working Group.

Karen Grumley, Head of Corporate Governance & Compliance, Pacific National

Karen is a senior lawyer, governance, risk, and compliance leader with more than 15 years’ experience in the rail industry. 

Karen is currently Head of Corporate Governance and Compliance at Australia’s leading private rail freight company, Pacific National.

Before joining Pacific National, Karen worked in various roles at an ASX Listed company – from legal counsel to policy advisor, and contract governance manager to governance lead on a major transformation project.  Prior to working in-house, Karen practiced at mid-tier law firms for several years.

Karen is also Past President of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Australia.  


Anthony Zgrajewski FGIA, Senior Corporate Risk and Governance Officer, QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute

Anthony is a skilled governance, risk and compliance professional, with over 20 years’ experience in local government and the tertiary education and research sectors.  He is an experienced Company Secretary and is a fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and a professional member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Anthony is currently the Corporate Risk and Governance Officer at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, focusing on improving the risk and compliance frameworks.  He has previously held the roles of Manager Enterprise Governance and Associate Director, Governance and Compliance at the University of Queensland
