Virtual Indigenous Governance Forum

Presented by Governance Institute of Australia and the Australian Indigenous Governance Institute

“Our culture is the thread that weaves its way through our entire operation and keeps us focused on our core values” – Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation, 2016 Indigenous Governance Awards Category A, shortlisted applicant.

In this annual forum we invite you to join us to explore Indigenous governance, and the structures, systems, and processes by which different First Nations peoples have framed leadership, culture, social and economic practice, and decision-making.

This year we will look at Indigenous governance systems that are core to self-determination, nation building and sustainability.

  • How we frame program design with self-determination, engagement and community led decision-making
  • How we advance self-determination for young Indigenous people through dedicated community infrastructure driven by community governance practices
  • How connection and belonging can frame the strategy for a healthy, thriving community
  • How the knowledge and partnership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is integral to all of Australia’s sustainability plans and actions - management, response, and recovery for current and future disasters.
