What is Non-award study?

For those who do not wish to undertake the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance and Risk Management course, Governance Institute also offers non-award study – where students can study a maximum of two (2) subjects offered within our postgraduate courses without requiring formal admission to the course.

Applicants for non-award study are required to demonstrate to Governance Institute that they have the capacity to undertake postgraduate level study by submitting an online application for admission form.

Where a student enrols as a non-award student they are required to undertake the assessments for that subject/s in order to attain the higher education credit. If a student subsequently applies for admission to an award course any credit attained as non-award study can be used to apply for advanced standing in the award course.

What subjects can I study?

Students can study a maximum of two (2) of the below postgraduate subjects as a non-award student:

Applied Corporate Law
Corporate Accountability: Meetings and Disclosure
Corporate Governance
Development of Strategy
Enterprise Risk Management
Finance for Decision-making
Public Law and Government
Public Sector Accountability and Transparency
Risk and Compliance
Risk Management Project

How and when do I study?

Students enrolled as Non-award students study the subject online and with students studying the subject who enrolled in the course based on the published semester dates and timetable each semester.

What is non-assessed study?

Where a student enrols in a postgraduate subject as a non-award student, they may attend all classes and discussion forums and access the course materials but can choose to not undertake the assessment items – referred to as non-assessed study. Non-assessed study students attend the subject online with all other students enrolled in the subject based on the published semester dates and timetable each semester.

Students in this mode of study will be ineligible for advanced standing if they later decide to apply for admission to the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance and Risk Management course at Governance Institute; or at any other education provider. Non-assessed Study requires the student to contact admissions@governanceinstitute.com.au for guidance on how to enrol.

Subject fees

  • Non-award students pay the same subject fee as students enrolled in the postgraduate course.
  • Non-assessed Study students pay 75% of the subject fee.
