Postgraduate courses admissions policy

1.0 Introduction 

This document applies to all students intending to enroll in the Governance Institute’s postgraduate courses. 

2.0 General 

2.1 There are three postgraduate courses currently on offer: 

  • Graduate Certificate of Applied Risk Management 
  • Graduate Diploma of Applied Risk Management & Corporate Governance 
  • Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance 

2.2 Entry requirements vary depending on which course is being applied for. 

2.3 Official documentation provided for entry into the courses must be certified. This may be done by an accountant, lawyer or JP. 

2.4 All documentation should be forwarded with the Postgraduate enrolment form found at the back of the Postgraduate Courses handbook. 

2.5 All documentation should be provided to the National Education Manager either before or at the time of subject enrolment. 

2.6 All subjects must be completed for the course unless exemptions have been granted. Please view the Postgraduate Exemptions Policy for further details. 

3.0 Entry requirements for the Graduate Certificate of Applied Risk Management 

3.1 Entry is available to those who hold a university degree or five years senior risk management experience. 

3.2 To make application for entry into the Graduate Certificate via University degree, you must supply: 

  • a certified copy of the official academic transcript for your degree with official explanation of the grading system. 
  • a certified copy of the testamur (degree certificate) if the academic transcript does not have a conferral or award date on it. 
  • evidence of name change if the candidate’s current name is different in anyway from the name as it appears on the official academic transcript. 
  • a certified official translation of any relevant document that is not in English. 

3.3 To make application for entry into the Graduate Certificate via the non degree pathway, you must supply: 

  • a current curriculum vitae 
  • relevant position descriptions for senior risk management roles and letter from employer. 

4.0 Entry requirements for the Graduate Diploma of Applied Risk Management & Corporate Governance 

4.1 Entry is available to those who hold a university degree. 

4.2 An entry qualification may be either an undergraduate or postgraduate degree. 

4.3 Entry is available to non degree holders via the Graduate Certificate of Applied Risk Management. 

  • Please note, a student eligible for entry into the Graduate Certificate via the non-degree pathway must achieve a credit average in the Graduate Certificate to be eligible for articulation into the Graduate Diploma of Applied Risk Management & Corporate Governance. 
  • If entering via the Graduate Certificate, notification must be made prior to graduation from the Graduate Certificate or your testamur must be returned. 

4.4 To make application for direct entry into the Graduate Diploma, you must supply: 

  • a certified copy of the official academic transcript for your degree with official explanation of the grading system. 
  • a certified copy of the testamur (degree certificate) if the academic transcript does not have a conferral or award date on it. 
  • evidence of name change if the candidate’s current name is different in anyway from the name as it appears on the official academic transcript. 
  • a certified official translation of any relevant document that is not in English.

5.0 Entry requirements for the Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance 

5.1 Entry is available to those who hold a university degree or degree-equivalent qualification satisfying the Governance Institute’s entry requirements. 

5.2 An entry qualification may be either an undergraduate or postgraduate degree. A degree-equivalent qualification may be a membership qualification for some related professional associations. 

5.3 To make application for entry into the Graduate Diploma, you must supply: 

  • a certified copy of the official academic transcript for your degree with official explanation of the grading system. 
  • a certified copy of the testamur (degree certificate) if the academic transcript does not have a conferral or award date on it. 
  • evidence of name change if the candidate’s current name is different in anyway from the name as it appears on the official academic transcript. 
  • a certified official translation of any relevant document that is not in English.
