The Women in Governance Luncheons aim to bring together women in the governance profession. The events feature presentations by women recognised for their achievements, as an inspiration to other women. The speakers share with the women attending their experiences in reaching the peak of their profession.

We are delighted to welcome Deborah O’Toole, Non-Executive Director as our speaker for this event.

Deborah is a qualified lawyer and has more than 30 years’ experience in mining, resources and rail freight industries, 25 of which have been focused in the finance function including as CFO at Aurizon, Queensland Cotton and MIM Holdings. She served as Chairman of the Audit Committee for CSIRO and the Norfolk Group and also on Boards of the MIM Group and the QR National/Aurizon Group. In 2013 she served as an Advisory Board Member at Pacific Aluminium. Deborah was also a member of the former Workers’ Compensation Board of Queensland and a former member of the Queensland Country Health Society.

Deborah is a director of Credit Union Australia Ltd, Wesley Research Institute, Sims Metal Management Limited, and Asciano Group, and is also a member of the Queensland University of Technology Banking & Finance School Advisory Board.

Deborah will discuss her career journey from CFO to Chair. She will draw on her experience from her previous roles and she will share her personal story of reaching the peak of her profession, as well as discuss any interesting wins or challenges tackled along the way. Deborah will also provide attendees with advice for moving up the ranks in the governance and risk management profession.
